CAUSTIC SODA
Sodium hydroxide (lat. Nátrii hydroxídum; other names – caustic soda) – inorganic chemical substance, the most common alkali, the chemical formula – NaOH.
Used in the following areas:
| Pulp and paper industry | in the process of delignification of cellulose, cardboard, paper, wood-fiber boards and artificial fibers. |
| Soap industry | in the production of shampoo, soap and detergents. |
| Chemical industry | used to neutralize acids and acidic oxides, as a catalyst or reagent, is involved in the production of pure metals and for the etching of aluminum |
| Cosmetology | It is used to treat keratinized skin and get rid of papillomas and warts. |
| Fuel fabrication | this type of fuel is derived from vegetable oils and is used as an alternative replacement for the widely known diesel fuel. |
| Civil defense | Caustic is able to neutralize toxic substances and purifies the inhaled air of carbon dioxide. |
| Food industry | registered as a food additive E-524, used in the manufacture of cacao, chocolate, ice cream, various drinks, used as a dye for caramel and olives. |
According to statistics, about 57 million tons of this substance are consumed every year in the world.
